Los Angeles Power Outage Today: Residents Check Electricity Status and Restoration Updates

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA — October 26, 2026 — Residents across Los Angeles are being encouraged to monitor official electricity outage reports as households and businesses seek information about possible service interruptions, affected neighborhoods and restoration timelines. Recent utility reports have documented localized outages in Los Angeles County, although the latest information reviewed does not establish a widespread blackout affecting the entire city today.

Power Outage Reports Across Los Angeles

Electricity interruptions can affect homes, businesses, traffic signals, refrigeration, internet access and other essential services. The extent of an outage can vary considerably, with some incidents affecting a few properties while others interrupt service to hundreds or thousands of customers.

Los Angeles County is served by several electricity providers, including the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), Southern California Edison (SCE), and municipal utilities in cities such as Burbank, Glendale and Pasadena.

A third-party outage tracker reported 117 LADWP customers without electricity in its October 25 update. This figure is a dated snapshot and should not be interpreted as a verified total for October 26.

What Causes Electricity Interruptions?

Power outages may result from equipment failures, damaged electrical lines, maintenance work, fallen trees or severe weather. In areas vulnerable to wildfires, utilities may also temporarily shut off electricity as a precaution when dangerous weather conditions increase the risk of electrical equipment starting a fire.

On October 16, 2026, public safety power shutoffs affected tens of thousands of Southern California Edison customers across Los Angeles County amid strong winds and wildfire concerns. That earlier event does not establish that a similar shutoff is occurring today.

How to Check the Latest Outage Status

Residents should first identify their electricity provider and consult its official outage information.

LADWP customers can view the official power outage map or call 1-800-342-5397, available around the clock for outage assistance.

SCE customers can check the official outage status page or call 1-800-611-1911. Newly reported outages may take up to 30 minutes to appear on its map.

Restoration estimates can change as crews investigate faults and assess damaged equipment. Residents should check updates using their service address rather than relying exclusively on general reports.

Safety Advice During a Power Outage

Keep refrigerator doors closed, use flashlights instead of candles when possible, and disconnect sensitive electronics if electrical surges are a concern. Treat every fallen power line as energized and keep well away from it. Report dangerous electrical conditions to the utility or emergency services.

People who rely on powered medical equipment should activate their backup arrangements promptly.

Latest Update

As of October 26, 2026, a citywide Los Angeles blackout has not been confirmed in the sources reviewed. Residents should use official utility maps for current outage locations, affected customer numbers and restoration estimates. Further details should be added as providers publish verified updates.
